He Sees

As Lina stepped into the church, every eye stared at her. This was her first time to visit a church service which was not for a wedding or funeral. She was a non-believer and often wondered why people went to church. Church was for non-thinkers, people that couldn't think outside the box. Why should anyone in their sane mind believe in a man to wash away their sins? she often wondered.

She listened carefully during the church service to try to find more meaning to what just happened to her sister. Lina and Lotta were not just sisters but great friends.. They shared everything with each other. With them there were no secrets. Lotta was the wild one. She was every man's dream. She was beautiful and smart at the same time.

One day, Lotta called complaining of a severe headache. Lina went with her to the hospital. After series of tests for many days. The doctor broke the news to them that Lotta had a brain tumour and may have a few months to live if she was lucky.

Lina's world stopped as she heard the Doctor's words. Lotta was in shock. How could her young life be brought to a stop abruptly? she questioned herself. Was is it even fair? many thoughts flooded her mind.

The ride back home was the longest ride ever. They were both quiet in the car, the world around made no meaning to Lina. They stopped at the traffic light and Lina put her hands around Lotta and said you will be fine. Lina wondered where those words came from? They both knew that it was a lie, tears filled their eyes. Lina pulled over to cry as the tears were so much that she couldn't see her way. They stopped at a remote place and hugged each other crying deeply.

Please do not tell Mum, Lotta said. This may break her heart as she was too fond of Lotta. They were only going to tell their Dad when the time was right.

Lina had made a promise to her sister that she was going to be fine, how was she going to make that happen, when the doctor had given his final verdict? She searched and searched every where for a solution. She bumped into faith healing. This made her pick up the Bible, she read about Jesus healing many sick people and even raising the dead.

She watched many faith healers who claimed to heal the sick and wondered if it was really true. She promised Jesus that if he would heal Lotta that she was going to go to church. Lina kept talking to Jesus, not sure if he was listening or not.

Lotta called one afternoon screaming, the doctor was wrong! What do you mean? Lina asked. The doctor was wrong, I do not have a tumour she said. I have been checked by another doctor and there is no tumour. What??? Lina wondered. Are you sure? she asked. I am coming over. Lina went over to meet Lotta and she explained that another doctor did some tests and found no tumours. The previous doctor repeated same test and found no tumour. Both doctors were in shock, how could this be?

Lina was suprised and wondered, could Jesus have done this?
